It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the death on the 6th August 2023, in Hospital, of Mrs Betty BAILEY, 82 years, widow of D/C/Superintendent Duncan Bailey. Her next of kin is her daughter Jane Thompson. Betty suffered with Parkinsons and was in residential care.

It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the death on the 3rd June 2023, peacefully at home after a long battle with Cancer of Mrs Susan STORROW, wife of ex PC 1411 Ivan Storrow. Her next of kin is her husband Ivan. Her funeral has already taken place.
When I saw Ivan, he informed me that his daughter Claire passed away on the 17th July 2023 from Cancer. He is helping his granddaughter come to terms with the loss of a Mother and Grandmother and she is helping him with the loss of a wife and daughter. His next of kin is his wife, Mrs Jane Kirk.
Stephen retired in 1990 on ill health. He served mainly in the Derby area. As per his wishes Stephen will be having a direct cremation, so no funeral service. His next of kin is his wife, Mrs Mavis Robertson.
Duncan, joined Derbyshire Police Force in 1968, working in - Chesterfield, Bolsover, Renishaw, Shirebrook & Staveley. He was incredibly proud of what did – Worked hard to provide for his family. Leaving the force in 1979 – Duncan & Mavis went on to become Steward & Stewardess at the North Star Club, Bolsover. Comment from son Steve Roberts: That was through the tough times of the 80’s and the miners’ strike, being an ex-Miner, an ex-Police Officer and then a Landlord – Duncan could see it from every angle. Mo had been living with vascular dementia for several years.
There will be no funeral as the family intend to have a Direct Cremation. Jess who is not well himself suffers from Parkinson’s Disease so their daughter Jo Nicholls of the same address will deal with any communications. Mo was a wonderful wife and mother. John retired in 1989 as a result of an injury on duty. He served in Chesterfield and then mainly in Buxton Division in CID and Traffic. He then worked part time for the local council as a taxi enforcement officer until about 2000 when he lived with Alzheimer’s, cared for by his wife, family and carers. John’s funeral has been arranged for 1.30pm on Monday 5th June 2023 at St. Annes Catholic Church, Terrace Road, Buxton SK17 6DU followed by Cremation at Macclesfield Crematorium, 7 Westfields Avenue, Macclesfield SK10 3BU. Roy joined the Royal Navy at the age of 15 years to fight for king and country 'for hostilities only' in 1942 and served in the Pacific Wars and left the Navy in 1947 when he joined Derbyshire Constabulary, serving mainly at Rosliston. He was on duty in London for the Coronation of HRH Queen Elizabeth II who was the same age as Roy. He retired in 1977. His funeral has already taken place. Don joined the Police in 1956 and served in Long Eaton, Belper, Swadlincote and Road Traffic. He was then Road Safety Officer until his retirement in 1983. His next of kin was his sixth wife Mrs Chris Hallam.
I believe Stephen joined the Derbyshire Constabulary in approximately 1966, retiring after 30 years service. I understand that he served in various areas of the force, including Alfreton, Buxton and Long Eaton. There is also a suggestion that he served as a Constable in Nottinghamshire Police for some time, possibly immediately before retirement. After his retirement it is believed that he again joined Nottinghamshire as a member of their Support Staff in the role of a Custody officer or similar. His funeral service was held at Bramcote Crematorium on 16th February 2023. Apologies that the information we have may be somewhat vague and confusing. Harold had been suffering from Dementia for several years and died peacefully in his sleep at Oaklands Care Home, Langwith. His carer for a number of years had been his former colleague Roger Bowler. 'H' joined the Derbyshire Constabulary as a Cadet in 1957 and joined the regular force a few years later. He served at Matlock, Staveley, was promoted to Sergeant at Belper and later served on the CID at Chesterfield and on the regional Crime Squad. He finished his service as a D/Sgt at Bakewell retiring in 1988. Harold was a great character and raconteur and will be missed by all those who had the pleasure to work with him. His funeral will take place 9.50am on Thursday 30th March 2023 at Chesterfield Crematorium. Trevor joined the Derbyshire Police in 1968. He served at Renishaw, Ripley, Chaddesden and in the enquiry office at Full Street Police Station. He retired in 2000 but went on to work in File Preparation in Derby. His funeral took place on Wednesday 15th March 2023 at Swanwick Crematorium. Ian Louch (Vice Chair) It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the death, after a short illness on Tuesday 21st February 2023 of former D/Sgt 686 Dennis RODGERS, 89yrs. His wife had died 3 years previously and his next of kin is his son Tony Rodgers.
Dennis joined Force in 1952, he worked in Derby Division and in the Traffic Department. Having attended DTS in 1962 Dennis moved to the CID in Chesterfield. He worked throughout Chesterfield Division and for a period on the Regional Crime Squad in Sheffield. In 1967 Dennis together with his colleague John Shaw were awarded the Queens Commendation for Bravery following a serious incident in Chesterfield. Dennis also represented the British Police in Rally Driving and competed throughout Europe. He retired in 1979 having achieved the rank of Detective Sergeant and then was employed for 10 years as an investigator with the Post Office. His funeral took place on Friday 17th March at Chesterfield Crematorium. Ian Louch (Vice Chair) It is with deep sadness that I have to inform you of the death, after a 15 month illness, on 7th February 2023 of John FIELD, collar number 1116. His next of kin is his wife Kate.

I understand that Mr Oldham joined the Derbyshire Constabulary during the late 1950’s and before his retirement in approx. 1988 had served at Chesterfield and in the Operations Room at Force Headquarters. His funeral took place at 3.00pm on Thursday, 2nd March 2023 at Babworth Crematorium, Retford, Notts. His next of kin at the time of his passing was his wife, Ann, who has now also sadly passed away some 10 days later from an unrelated illness on 16th January, 2023.
The couple’s next of kin now is their son, Mr Steve Law Mr Law initially joined the Metropolitan police before moving to Derbyshire in the early 1970’s. He worked a beat in the Renishaw, Whitwell and Clowne areas and then in the office at Chesterfield, before his retirement in the late 90’s.
